The stretch that separates Pisciotta from Ascea capital is a continuous succession of wide panoramas and singular glimpses where the sea is the absolute protagonist. Worthy of note is the impressive landslide which made it necessary to close the state road to traffic but which can be easily covered on foot. Going up the road after the deep inlet at the bottom of which you see the Salerno-Reggio Calabria railway line, you arrive at Ascea, the capital. Finally, you swoop down to the Marina following a dirt road that follows the pipeline of the aqueduct to the plain where an imposing fountain awaits those who want to cool off. Before arriving in the archaeological area of Velia, you pass in front of the headquarters of the Alario foundation where in the garden stands the statue of Parmenides, the father of contemporary thought in the Western world.
